Jyoti Surekha Vennam – The Indian women’s archery team created history on 4 August 2023 by winning the gold medal in the World Archery Championships 2023. India’s first gold medal in archery championship. The competition was organized in the city of Berlin, Germany. The Indian team defeated the Mexican compound team of Daphne Quintero, Ana Sofa Hernandez Zion and Andrea Becerra 235-229 in the final for the gold medal. Jyoti Vennam was born on 3 July 1996 in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh state of South India. He has inherited his interest in sports as his father is also a Kabaddi player. Jyoti Vennam has registered her name in the Limca Book of Records. At the age of just 4, Krishna river covered a distance of 5 km in 3 hours 20 minutes and six seconds. Jyoti won her first gold medal in archery at the age of 13.

Jyoti Surekha Vennam Early life and career

Jyoti Surekha Vennam was brought up in Vijayawada only. Completed schooling and intermediate from Nalanda Institute. He was interested in sports since childhood. He won his first gold medal at the age of 13 at the Mexican Grand Prix Olympics. Won 1st position in Lancaster Archery Women’s Open Pro event held in USA in January 2022. The recently held World Archery Championship 2023 was held in the city of Bareilly, France, in which the Indian team won the gold medal, Jyoti is a part of this team. Jyoti had won two bronze medals in the Asian Archery Championship held in 2011.
